The demonstration wind power station at Dlouhá Louka near OsekThe CEZ, a. s. endeavors, in this particular area, focused mostly on utilization of wind power, a solar power photovoltaic energy conversion, and biomass energy  utilization. In addition, various studies monitor new technologies of fuel cells, energy accumulation and conversion.

In November 1993, the CEZ, a. s. commenced  an operation of the first 315 kW Wind Power Plant in Dlouha Louka u Oseku, Krusne Hory Mountains, Czech Republic. The wind power plant provided a site for long-term tests and measurements of both operation optimization and an increase in produced electricity quantity . In 2000,  the wind power plant was taken over from CEZ, a. s. by Atmosphere Physics Institution of the Czech Science Academy, for research purposes. Since the operation commencement in 1993 until the end of October 2000, this wind power plant  generated 1 146 MWh of electricity.

In Mravenecnik, at the pump storage hydro-plant near Dlouhe Strane in Jeseniky Mountains, the CEZ, a. s. operates a wind power plant farm consisting of three wind power plants with the total output reaching 1 165 kW. The area comprises, additionally, a 10 kW photovoltaic power plant. In 2000, the entire system produced 407 MWh of electricity, with specific costs exceeding 16 000 CZK/MWh. Since 2003, the solar power plant is placed in the NPP Dukovany area.

In 2000, the CEZ, a. s. successfully tested  a combustion of wood biomass mixed with South Moravia lignite, in PP Hodonin fluidized bed boiler and consequently received a permanent operation permit issued by Czech Environmental Inspection Office, covering a heat balance up to 25 % of the installed fluidized bed boiler power input.
