CEZ Group entered the Bulgarian energy market in 2005. ISince the very beginning, it has focused mainly on the distribution and sale of electricity. Besides that, CEZ also owns the photovoltaic power plant Orešec and provides energy services. CEZ Group's activities in Bulgaria are coordinated by CEZ Bulgaria, which also acts as an intermediary between CEZ and key energy market institutions.

The distribution company CEZ Razpredelenie Bulgaria was created by merging three local distribution companies that CEZ Group bought in 2005. It operates in the western part of Bulgaria on an area of about 40,000 km2 - the regions it services include Sofia-city, Sofia, Blagoevgrad, Kyustendil, Pernik, Pleven, Lovech, Vratsa, Montana and Vidin. CEZ Razpredelenie serves nearly 3 million customers. Its 100% subsidiary CEZ ICT Bulgaria provides information and telecommunications services.
Sale of electricity to end customers on the free market and wholesale market trades are provided by CEZ Trade Bulgaria. Another company, CEZ Elektro Bulgaria, also sells electricity to end customers in Bulgaria.
CEZ Group operates the Oreshets photovoltaic power plant with an installed capacity of 5.0 MW in western Bulgaria. The power plant covers an area of 10 hectares, on the premises of an abandoned wood processing factory in the Oreshets industrial zone. Having started operation in 2012, it produces around 6 GWh of ecological electricity annually.
