New electric poles near Radošov protect birds from electrocution

CEZ has replaced outdated high voltage poles in the locality of Bražec - Radošov in the Karlovy Vary region. The aim is to prevent injuries and deaths of birds by electrocution when landing on power lines.

CEZ Distribuce has replaced the old wooden poles with overhead high-voltage lines on new concrete pylons and truss structures in a 7.7-kilometre section. Power engineers have installed 116 bird perching poles on the concrete pylons. The perching poles are installed at a sufficient distance below the lines to allow birds to land without risk of contact with the conductors. The total cost of this investment project is CZK 16 million.
