CEZ has submitted a binding offer for the majority share in Polish power companies ELCHO and Skawina

CEZ Power Company has submitted a binding offer to the American independent power producer PSEG Global L.L.C. to acquire its majority shares in the power companies of Elektrociepłownia Chorzów Elcho Sp. z o.o., and Elektrownia Skawina S.A.

The binding offer confirms CEZ Group´s  serious interest in the Polish power market, which we give pritority in the Central-European region on the ground of our vision to become number one on power markets in Central and South-Eastern Europe,“ said Martin Roman, Chairman of the Board and CEO of CEZ.

Skawina and Elcho power companies are located in Southern Poland and both produce combined power and heat. PSEG´s share in the power plants which is being sold reaches 74.82 % in Skawina and 88.82 % in Elcho.

The bituminous coal-fired power plant Skawina has a generating capacity of 590 MWe, and produces about 3 TWh of electricity per annum. Within its combined production of power and heat, the plant supplies heat and hot water to the city of Skawina and the Western part of Krakow. It supplies electricity to local distribution and electricity trading companies.

Elcho is situated 8 km South-West of Katowice. Its two modern units with total generating capacity of 220 MWe produce combined power and heat by black-coal combustion. 100 % of the produced electricity is supplied to the operator of the Polish transmission grid PSE, heat is supplied to Katowice and surrounding areas.
