Chief Executuve OfficerDr. Martin Roman

Dr. Martin Roman graduated from the Faculty of Law at Charles University in Prague. He obtained a one-year scholarship at St. Gallen University, the Faculty of Economics, in Switzerland. He also spent one year studying at the Karl-Ruprechtsuniversität Heidelberg in Germany.

He began his professional career in 1992 when still a student he was appointed Sales Director of the Czech branch of Wolf Bergstrasse CR, s.r.o., specializing in potatoe chips production. From 1994-1999 he worked as CEO of Janka Radotin, a.s., and after the acquisition of the company by a strategic partner – the American company LENNOX - he also became Chairman of the Board of Directors. SKODA HOLDING, where he came to CEZ from, was his third chief executive position (from 1999 he began in Pilsen as Chairman of the Board and CEO of SKODA, a.s., in April 2000 he was appointed Chairman of the Board and CEO of SKODA HOLDING company).

Chief Operating Officer Ing. Daniel Beneš, MBA

Ing. Daniel Beneš, MBA, graduated from the Machinery Faculty of the VSB – Technical University of Ostrava and from Brno International Business School – Nottingham Trent University.

Between 1993-1993 he worked as Sales Manager at BOHEMIACOAL, later as the CEO of HEDVIGA GROUP. During 2000 – 2004, he was the CEO of TCHAS plant, the leading importer and fuel merchant in the Czech Republic. From 2004 he held the position of Director of the Purchase Section of CEZ, a.s. From 2006 he held the position of Chief Administration Officer. From June, 2007 he has been Chief Operating Officer. At the same time he represents CEZ, a.s., in the authorities controlled by the company, above all, he has been holding the function of Chairman of the Supervisory Board in Severoceske doly a.s.

Chief Distribution OfficerIng. Tomáš Pleskač, MBA

Tomas Pleskač graduated from the Faculty of Business and Economics of  Mendel’s University of Agriculture in Brno 1989. Later he completed an internationally accredited course at the Prague International School and received an MBA. Mr. Pleskač joined CEZ after a short working period in Komerční banka, a. s. - he was responsible for large and medium business loans, development project reviews, and corporation financing.

He started working for CEZ Group in 1994, as a Deputy Director of the Economy and Sales Department at the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant. Since January 2003 he has participated in the team of a newly created CEZ distribution division, preparing the integration of CEZ and the regional power distribution organizations. Since 2003 he has worked within the ČEZ Group for Severomoravská energetika, as the vice-president of the board and a financial director. Between 2004 and 2007 he was in charge of the CEZGroup integration project “Vision 2008” From 2006 he was the Division Distribution Chief Officer and a Member of the Board of Directors. In January 2008 he became a Division International Chief Officer and on 11th February he was elected a 2nd Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Chief Personnel OfficerIng. Hana Krbcová

Ing. Hana Krbcová graduated at the University of Economics in Prague and at the International Institute of Certified Studies in Strategic Management.

Hana Krbcová has been working in power industry since 1978, first in economic positions and later in the area of personnel. She is a Vice-President of the Czech Society for Human Resources Development responsible for preparation and implementation of national projects and a member of the Human Resources Development Council in the Moravia-Silesia region.

vladimir hlavinkaMgr. Ing. Vladimír Hlavinka

Vladimir Hlavinka graduated from the Brno University of Technology, where he studied thermal and nuclear machines and equipment, and the Faculty of Law of the Masaryk University in Brno. Between 1989 – 1991 he worked for VUJE Trnava, in the years 1991 – 2000 he worked for CEZ and from 2000 he was a member of the board of directors in ALTA, a.s. In ALTA group he was responsible for organization and management, legal service and acquisitions.

In July 18, 2006, he came back to CEZ to become the director of the Temelin Nuclear Power Plant. During more then one year in that position, he managed to improve significantly the safety in operation of the plant, which was proved by shortening of the planned outage in 2007.

Chief Sales OfficerIng. Alan Svoboda, MBA

A graduate from the University of Missouri Kansas City (USA) MBA in finance, and MA in economics. Further, he graduated form West Bohemian University in Pilsen, where he studied information and financial management.

Since March 31, 2005, he has been Vice-Chairman of the Supervisory Board of CEZ Prodej, s.r.o. (term of office until March 30, 2010, re-election possible), from June 18, 2004, he has been Vice-Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the company, since March 21, 2005, he has been a member of the Supervisory Board of CEZ Zakaznicke sluzby, s.r.o. (term of office until March 20, 2010, re-election possible), since January 1, 2006, he has been one of the directors of the international association Eurelectric in Brussels and since December 1, 2005 he has been a member of the General Assembly and Executive Committee of Foratom in Brussels.

Between April 27, 2004 and April 21, 2006, he was Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of CEZ, a.s., between June 29, 2004 and August 31, 2004, he was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of CEZ Data, s.r.o., between September 1, 2004 and April 10, 2007 he was Vice-Chairman of the company´s Supervisory Board.

Ing. Ivan LapinIvan Lapin

Ivan Lapin comes from Ostrava, where he studied VSB – Technical University. Before he joined CEZ, he had worked at Moravske naftove doly Hodonin, in the OKD, a.s./Karboninvest a.s. concern, and last as CEO of Banska obchodni spolecnost. 

Ivan Lapin has worked for CEZ Group since 2002. First, he was responsible for the strategic electricity purchase in Severomoravska energetika, later he implemented the activity of integrated energy services in Energetika Vitkovice. From October 1, 2004, he worked as Director of the Integrated Purchase Section, which was established after the division of Sprava majetku (Assets Administration) and Sluzby (Services) sections. From January 1, 2007, he held the position of Director of CEZ Sprava majetku, s.r.o. From July, 2007 he has been Chief Administration Officer.

peter bodnarIng. Peter Bodnár

Immediately after he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava in 1984, he worked in SES Tlmace as a constructer and designer, later as the chief of projection. He came to CEZ from Slovenske Elektrarne, where he worked as director of the Quality and Processes Enhancement Section. He led the restructuring process there and was responsible for the implementation of changes in the firm. At the end of 2005, he took part in preparing the Italian Enel´s entry into Slovenske Elektrarne.

From 2002, he worked for the French multinational company Alstom Power Service as general director for the Slovak Republic, and later also for the Czech Republic. In the years 1992-2001, Peter Bodnar worked in management positions in Istroenergo Group company, where he gained experience in private enterprising. Together with Skoda Holding he participated in projects in Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and in Cuba. He joined CEZ Group in June 2007.

Jiri KudrnacIng. Jiří Kudrnáč

Ing. Jiri Kudrnac is a graduate from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the CTU in Prague, where he studied electrical machines and equipment. From 1990 he was an employee of Severoceska energetika. In the years 1990 - 2005 he was a trasmission system technician, the chief of VVN switch room, the chief of analytical and implementation teams in the area of the operating control system for VVN, a member of reengineering team, the chief of the Strategie section in SCE, a.s., and the chief of general management department of SCE, a.s. He has also been the leader of D2 team under the VISION 2008 Project.

In January 2008 he became Chief Distribution Officer.

martin novakIng. Martin Novák

Ing. Martin Novak graduated from the University of Economics in Prague and started his career as a tax advisor in Price Waterhouse in 1994. Then he went to Ceska rafinerska where he worked between 1996 and 2001, last as Controller – Deputy Finance Director. Next 5 years he worked for Conoco in Houston and ConocoPhillips in London, in the years 2005 – 2006 as Financial Director for Central and Eastern Europe.

Since 2006, he has been working for CEZ as the director of accounting. During his time at CEZ Group, reporting of results has been accelerated significantly, many processes have been simplified, the number of the Group´s accounting departments has been reduced and the effectivity of provided services has been enhanced with direct impact on cost cutting.

Vladimir SchmalzIng. Vladimír Schmalz

Director of Mergers & Acquisitions

Ing. Vladimir Schmalz is a graduate from the University of Economics, Faculty of International Relations (foreign trade economy) where he took his degree in 1994. He has been to foreign stays and short-term attachments to the Universität Hannover (Germany), the Universität Münster (Germany), Hochschule St. Gallen (Switzerland), ESCP Paris (France) and the International Institute for Politics and Economics in Hamburg (Germany).

From 1991 he was the general director, later chairman of the board of directors and a shareholder of SAWBAC company, which was engaged in facility management in the Czech and Slovak Republic.

Between 2004 and 2005 he represented the interests of CEZ in the supervisory  board of Severoceska energetika a.s. and from 2005 to 2006 also in the supervisory board of Skoda Praha a.s..  At present he is a member of the supervisory board of the distribution company EAD Stolichno in Bulgaria and since 2006 he has been CEO of ZAO TransEnergo in the Russian Federation. Further, he represents the Czech Republic in the BAC SEE (Business Advisory Council for South Eastern Europe), an advisory board for the European Commission and  the Stability Pact.
