This morning, an automatic short-time switching of the Unit 1 from the power grid occurred. It was due to the trip of a turbine driven feedwater pump caused by an error at the planned pump maintenance. Subsequently, the automatic systems switched the Unit off the grid in compliance with the design. The Unit's electricity delivery to the electricity distribution grid will be restored this very day.
The turbine driven feedwater pump
A pump in the non-nuclear part of the Unit. It is its function to provide for the circulation of feedwater that is generated by the steam condensation after the passage through the turbine to the steam generator. It is in the steam generator that the steam is turned back to steam.
