Information on NPP Temelín 197 / 2010

Unit 2 is in operation at planned power level. At Unit 1, a planned outage is under way, that is connected with the annual refueling of the reactor fuel. The auxiliary systems are working in accordance with the operation needs of individual units.

On Friday at 17 o´clock the operations personnel have started the Unit 1 reactor. This means that the fuel of the Russian company TVEL started to work at Temelín for the first time replacing after ten years that of the American supplier. Today the physical tests at the minimum reactor power level were completed. They verified the reactor core parameters. Those are the same tests that were performed with the Westinghouse fuel. Additional tests will take place at 30% of the reactor thermal power (RTP). Based on the requirement of the nuclear surveillance body, a test at 55% RTP has been newly included into the testing plan. Electricity production commencement is planned for the middle of next week.
