Information on NPP Temelín 233 / 2008

Unit 2 is in operation at planned power level. Unit 1 is in an outage. The auxiliary systems are working in accordance with the operation needs of individual units.

Yesterday at 20:40 o'clock, the Unit 2 has been re-synchronized to the power distribution grid and, starting from this noon, it will operate at full power. During the two days outage, the regular test of the clusters drop has been performed that was originally planned for the last weekend of December. The test confirmed good parameters of the modernized fuel assemblies placed within the reactor core.

The reason of the switching of Unit 2 from the power grid has been established by examination.  The impulse for it was the actuation of the earth connection generator protection at an auxiliary system of these protections. It was due to a contact of a steel cable used at the repair of a crane track in the machine hall. It was the first occurrence of such root case. Based on this experience, the Temelín NPP management adopted preventive technical and organizational measures that are to be implemented at both units.
