Information on NPP Temelín 80 / 2010

Both Unit 1 and 2 are in operation at full rated power. The auxiliary systems are working in accordance with the operation needs of individual units.

On Saturday, Unit 2 was transferred to the operation of the so called power effect of reactivity. During this period, the reactor power will be slowly decreased till 95 % RTP. In connection to the reactor power, the turbine generator output will be reduced.  The power effect operation will be terminated on Friday, April 30, when the unit will be as planned disconnected of the grid and a 50 days’ refueling outage will be commenced.

The reactor uses to be brought to the power effect of reactivity operation in the end of the fuel campaign. The power effect of reactivity operation means that the fuel was optimally used during the fuel campaign. Those are desired conditions signaling good unit performance within the period from one refueling outage to another one. During the power effect of reactivity operation, the reactor power is decreased step by step. It is just at the lower reactor power that energy can be additionally acquired from spent fuel assemblies and, hereby, to use them most effectively.
