Modernization of all types of hydropower plants with a total capacity of 1530 MW. In total, 39 units at 22 power plants were modernised. The modernised plants are more environmentally friendly and 5-10% more efficient. They require less water to generate the same amount of electricity. On the occasion of the World Water Day, ČEZ will open the hydroelectric power plants in Střekov, Prýgl in Brno and Hučák in Hradec Králové to the public on the 23rd of March.

More reliable, safer, greener, more efficient, more economical and ready for the next decades of operation. All this is fulfilled by CEZ hydropower plants that have undergone a modernization and greening program over the past 15 years. As a result of a major renovation at a cost of almost CZK 4.5 billion, 39 units at 22 hydroelectric power plants are operating better and more economically today than when they started operating decades ago. Last year, CEZ hydropower plants delivered more than 2.3 TWh of emission-free electricity to the grid, covering the consumption of more than 650,000 households.
