At the request of a bidder, ČEZ will extend the deadline for submitting the final bids for construction of the new nuclear reactor by nearly a month

ČEZ has agreed to a request by one of the bidders and has extended the deadline for submitting the final bids for construction of the new nuclear reactor in Dukovany. The new deadline is now October 31, 2023. Extension of the deadline has no impact on the project schedule. Bidders will submit non-binding bids for another three nuclear reactors in addition to the binding bid for one reactor in Dukovany.

The deadline for submitting binding bids has already been extended once (from September 15 to October 2) at the request of another bidder. The current deadline is therefore October 31. ČEZ will subsequently assess all submitted bids and hand over an assessment report to the Czech government for final approval.

The tender for the new nuclear reactor in Dukovany was officially announced in March 2022. Three bidders (American-Canadian Westinghouse, French EDF and South Korean KHNP) submitted preliminary bids last year in November. During the tender, bidders sent hundreds of additional queries and visited the actual site of the reactor several times. The new reactor should begin trial operation in 2036.
