ČEZ enhances energy security by entering into a contract for gas supplies from Algeria
After two years of demanding negotiations, ČEZ trading experts have concluded a contract with the Algerian company SONATRACH for the supply of gas from Algeria. The supplies were launched in October this year. Gas will travel from Algeria via Tunisia, then through an undersea pipeline to Italy, and on to Europe and Czech Republic. The contract for an annual volume that will be able to cover the annual consumption of some 100,000 households, representing approximately 2 percent of the country’s annual gas consumption. ČEZ has been supported by the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, and the Czech Embassy in Algeria.

Rolls-Royce SMR and ČEZ Group partner to deploy SMRs in UK and Czechia
Rolls-Royce SMR Limited (Rolls-Royce SMR) and ČEZ Group (CEZ) have today announced that they will join forces to bring their global capabilities and know-how to the deployment of Rolls-Royce SMR’s small modular reactor (SMR) technology. This is enabled by an equity investment by CEZ into Rolls-Royce SMR and a strategic partnership to deploy up to 3GW of electricity in the Czech Republic using Rolls-Royce SMR power plants.

ČEZ will shut down Unit 2 this evening for inspections and replacement of fuel assemblies
Inspections of safety systems and of the turbine, 74 investment actions or replacement of part of fuel assemblies. These are just examples of the most important works to be performed during the Nuclear Power Plant Unit 2 planned outage. The utility will disconnect the unit from the transmission system tomorrow evening. In total, CEZ plans to do almost nineteen thousand activities, for which it has preliminarily planned two months.

ČEZ Group completes acquisition of a 55.21% stake in the gas infrastructure operator GasNet
ČEZ Group has completed the acquisition of a 55.21% stake in the GasNet Group, the largest gas distribution infrastructure operator in the Czech Republic. Natural gas, and later also hydrogen, will play a key role in the future development of the country’s economy. With this acquisition, ČEZ Group supports the transformation of the heat generation industry and its transition from coal to natural gas and hydrogen. The stake sold was previously managed by Macquarie Asset Management, acting on behalf of the funds it manages. The transaction has already been approved by the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade and the European Commission.
