ŠKODA AUTO and ČEZ launch cooperation to decarbonise the energy sector and transport. They will test smart charging management systems and join forces to recycle batteries

*The two companies want long-term cooperation on innovative solutions for decarbonisation, energy self-sufficiency and security, savings and the circular economy
*The aim is to involve electric vehicles more actively in advanced network management and smart charging
*In cooperation with Škoda X, ČEZ ESCO will produce batteries for the energy sector from end-of-life electric car batteries
*The first such batteries in the Czech Republic will be in Rožnov and Ivančice, with others going to customers abroad
Smart energy management systems for municipalities, businesses and development projects, solutions for heating, lighting, rooftop photovoltaics, battery storage and electric vehicle charging. This is a contribution towards the great transformation of the domestic car industry and energy sector that was presented today by the leaders in Czech electromobility - ŠKODA AUTO and ČEZ. As part of broader cooperation in the modern energy sector, ŠKODA X and ČEZ ESCO, subsidiaries of the two concerns, want to involve electric vehicles more intensively in energy services and find new applications for batteries from electric vehicles. The first batteries are already on their way to customers in the Czech Republic and abroad.

Municipalities are starting to use Lighting for a Koruna with energy savings of up to 80 percent

Cities are also starting to use the Lighting for a Koruna project, which has become a hit in recent years, especially in small villages and larger municipalities. Thanks to this, ČEZ Energetické služby, a ČEZ ESCO subsidiary, has replaced energy-intensive public lighting fixtures with modern, energy-saving LEDs in Všeruby in the Pilsen Region and in Zlaté Hory in the Jesenice Region without burdening the city budget. Public lighting is a significant item in the budgets of towns and municipalities and its modernisation brings energy savings on an average of 80%. This is why councillors in more cities are now interested in the project.

Headquarters of Komerční banka from Societé Génerale Group Has Solar Power Plant from ČEZ ESCO on Its Roof

*Komerční banka from the Societé Génerale group has a photovoltaic system on the roof of its Prague headquarters

*210 panels will generate almost 100 MWh of electricity per year and reduce CO2 emissions by 36 tonnes

*The “Photovoltaic System for 1 CZK” model, which allows a customer to purchase a power plant without investment costs, was used for the installation

This helps Komerční banka get closer to its goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2026. The installation work has already been completed by ČEZ ESCO, which focuses on energy-efficient and climate-friendly solutions for companies, municipalities and the public administration. The photovoltaic power plant at Komerční banka’s headquarters in Prague’s Stodůlky district has more than 200 panels and produces almost 100 MWh of emission-free electricity annually.

Energy-Saving Projects Saved Cities, Municipalities and Public Administration over CZK 300 Million

*The annual guaranteed savings of ČEZ ESCO EPC projects are CZK 200 million

*Savings in 2022 energy prices exceeded CZK 300 million

*The savings potential in public buildings in the Czech Republic is estimated at CZK 20 billion

A total of 32 energy-saving projects designed using the EPC method and now operated by ENESA from ČEZ ESCO saved CZK 227 million in electricity, gas, heat and water costs last year in the prices of the project’s reference years. Converted to last year’s high energy prices, it was over CZK 300 million. The highest savings were achieved by Prague Congress Centre, but record savings were also reported by projects in hospitals and industry. The CO2 equivalent savings amounted to 45,400 tonnes, equivalent to 17 days of operation of a conventional 100 MW coal-fired power plant.
