ČEZ enhances energy security by entering into a contract for gas supplies from Algeria

After two years of demanding negotiations, ČEZ trading experts have concluded a contract with the Algerian company SONATRACH for the supply of gas from Algeria. The supplies were launched in October this year. Gas will travel from Algeria via Tunisia, then through an undersea pipeline to Italy, and on to Europe and Czech Republic. The contract for an annual volume that will be able to cover the annual consumption of some 100,000 households, representing approximately 2 percent of the country’s annual gas consumption. ČEZ has been supported by the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, and the Czech Embassy in Algeria.

EcoVadis Gives CEZ Group Gold Rating

CEZ Group received gold medal from the international rating company EcoVadis, for the integration of the principles of sustainability and corporate social responsibility into business and management system. Only 62 companies in the world can currently boast a gold medal in the category of energy suppliers. Increasing number of globally operating companies require rating from EcoVadis from their suppliers, as a guarantee of their sustainable approach to business.

Construction commenced on the Stade LNG terminal near Hamburg. From 2027, it will cover more than a quarter of the Czech Republic’s annual consumption

The Czech Republic continues to bolster its energy self-sufficiency, by reducing the country’s energy-dependence on Russia. Today, a ceremony was held to commence construction on Germany’s first onshore LNG terminal for the processing and further transport of natural gas, situated near Hamburg, at the mouth of the River Elbe on the North Sea. Led by the Hanseatic Energy Hub consortium, the terminal will be commissioned in 2027. In cooperation with the government, ČEZ Group entered into contracts last year to secure a long-term annual capacity of 2 billion cubic metres at Stade.

CEZ Group achieves historically best sustainability rating, rising among the world’s top 10% companies

CEZ Group has achieved its best-ever ESG rating from the global rating aggregator CSR Hub, which collects and recalculates data from approximately 30 international agencies to form a single aggregate indicator. They currently place CEZ among the world’s 10% best-rated publicly traded companies.
