CEZ Group Wins Prestigious Environmental Finance Sustainable Company Awards 2023

CEZ Group succeeded in the global Sustainable Company Awards 2023 competition run by Environmental Finance, a professional portal focused on providing comprehensive information, expert studies and educational materials related to sustainability. CEZ won in two categories: Sustainability reporting of the year and Sustainable business leader of the year.

CEZ Group’s Inven Capital invests in artificial intelligence that monitors water waste

* IC has invested in WINT, an Israeli company focused on water management for sustainability and water-damage prevention

* WINT’s clients include Microsoft, the Empire State Building, or PepsiCo

* Conserving 1 m3 of drinking water saves up to 15 kg of CO2 emissions

* CEZ is successfully reducing drinking water consumption, this being one of its priorities

WINT (Water Intelligence), an Israeli company that focuses on the early detection of water leaks and waste and on efficient water management using artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT), is the latest addition to the portfolio of CEZ Group’s investment fund Inven Capital. The start-up raised a total of $35 million from investors in the latest round of investment co-led by Inven Capital and Insight Partners, a global software investor. WINT’s smart solutions are also used by world-famous global brands such as Microsoft or PepsiCo. Water conservation is one of CEZ’s sustainable development priorities. They were the first Czech company to join the UN Global Compact CEO Water Mandate.

The terminal in Eemshaven, the Netherlands, is operating as planned. It handled 12 LNG ships for the Czech Republic in the first half of the year

Europe's first liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal launched since the start of the war in Ukraine is running at full capacity. During the first six months of this year, it handled 12 ships carrying liquefied natural gas destined for the Czech Republic. The facility can process up to eight billion cubic metres of gas per year, of which three billion are destined for the Czech Republic, a volume equivalent to more than a third of the Czech Republic's annual consumption. In addition to ČEZ, the terminal is also used by the multinational companies Shell and Engie.

CEZ Group is the first Czech company to join the global UN initiative CEO Water Mandate for reducing consumption

CEZ Group is the first Czech company to join the CEO Water Mandate, a special initiative of the UN Secretary General and the Global Compact corporate platform. With membership in the initiative, CEZ owns up to a commitment to address water protection in a comprehensive manner, in cooperation with the United Nations, national governments, civic initiatives, and others. The participating companies undertake to introduce effective water-management measures and to share examples of best practice in water protection and consumption reduction. Other European utilities companies such as Enel, Engie, E.ON, and Iberdrola have also joined the initiative. By joining, CEZ will step up the water-saving measures with which it has reduced the consumption of drinking water in its classic power plants by two-thirds in the last 10 years.
