At its meeting today, the Government of the Czech Republic approved the conclusion of an amendment to the First Implementation Agreement on cooperation in the construction of a nuclear power plant at the Dukovany site in the Czech Republic among the Ministry of Industry and Trade, ČEZ and Elektrárna Dukovany II (EDU II). The amendment declares the State’s requirement that added to the tender documentation of the Tender Procedure should be the right of EDU II to require the bidders (to the extent and in the manner specified by the State) also to supply Unit 6 at the Dukovany site and Units 3 and 4 at the Temelín site under terms and conditions analogous to the supply of Unit 5 at the Dukovany site. The strategic objective is to express to the bidders a strong interest in the construction of additional units and, thus, achieve a price reduction already for Unit 5. Furthermore, the amendment extends the deadline for the submission of the Final Evaluation Report by EDU II to 31 May 2024. The Tender Procedure will however still be conducted for a single unit (EDU 5). The overall construction and launch schedule remains unchanged, with the goal being to sign a contract with the selected bidder in late 2024 or early 2025.
