Temelín will disconnect the second unit as planned this evening. Energy workers will adjust the turbine mounting.

Today, shortly after 9 p.m., the operating personnel will disconnect the second Temelín unit from the transmission system as planned. The reason is a minor adjustment to the steam turbine mounting settings. The unit should resume electricity supplies early next week. The short-term reduction in production at the Temelín power plant will not affect consumers.

Today, at 6 p.m., the operating personnel will begin reducing the output of the second unit. It will be disconnected from the transmission system shortly after 9 p.m. The reason is to fine-tune the steam turbine mounting in the non-nuclear part of the power plant. The reactor operators will not cool it down, they will leave it in the so-called hot state.

This is not a solution to an acute need. Energy workers want to adjust some parameters of the turbine mounting based on experience and detailed measurements, thus avoiding any unplanned adjustments during the next approximately year of operation.

The power engineers planned the work well in advance for the Easter holidays, when they expect suitable conditions in the transmission networks.

Since the beginning of the year, the Temelín power plant has produced 5.4 terawatt hours of electricity. Together with Dukovany, these are sources that produce the largest amount of clean electricity and thus contribute significantly to ČEZ Group's emission-free production. Annually, approximately two tens of millions of tons of CO2 have not been released into the atmosphere thanks to nuclear power plants.
