Vladimir Cerny is becoming the new director of CEZ Polska

Vladimir Cerny, a leader of the successful teams for the acquisition of Polish power plants Elcho and Skawina, is heading for the post as director of CEZ Polska. The present director of CEZ Group in Poland, Kamil Cermak, is going to be appointed as executive director of CEZ Prodej (Sales) and director for company?s important clients as from 1 July.

CEZ Group's strategic goal is to become the leader on the electricity markets in Central and South-Eastern Europe. The CEZ Group has made the first steps in the Balkans already last year and the year before, when CEZ bought 3 distribution firms in Bulgaria and a distribution company in Romania. CEZ was a success on the Polish market this year owing to the acquisition of the power plants Elcho and Skawina.

It is namely the Polish market that is the key Central European market for us, besides the domestic one. We have broken through visibly in Poland in the last year, we have established a fully operating agency and are trading electricity there. Recently, we have also acquired the power plants Elcho and Skawina. All that represents our stepping stone to further activities on the Polish power market, said Martin Roman, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of CEZ.

One of the first tasks of the new director of CEZ Poland, Vladimir Cerny, will especially be to successfully accomplish take-overs of both Polish power companies and further develop CEZ Group´s activities in Poland.

The main task of Kamil Cermak in his new post will be to secure quality services for company´s key customers in the period of growing competitive environment on the Czech market (so that CEZ keeps its adequate share of the market of important end clients).

Vladimir Cerny has been working for CEZ, in the Merger and acquisition department, since 2002. He was a manager of the acquisition teams for Slovenske elektrarne, a.s., ZespoĹ‚ Elektrowni Dolna Odra, Elektrownia Kozienice, and the power companies Elcho and Skawina. Since 2003, he has been Chairman of the supervisory board of VCE, a. s. (one of the former Czech power distribution companies, member of the CEZ Group).

Vladimir Cerny graduated from mathematics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University, where he also passed his doctoral exams. Most of his professional life, he has worked in the field of fuel and power industry (coal mining, gas manufacture and power industry). His work has involved mainly computing and trading. In 1988 he was one of the founders of one of the first joint-ventures in Czechoslovakia DANCCO, where he worked as sales and financial manager. Since 1997, he worked for KB, a. s., for a few years, where he was giving rise to one of the first workplaces dealing with M&A in the Czech Republic. He lead work teams that were a success in realizing big acquisitions such as sales of majority of the power plants Opatovice, VERTEX Litomysl, Energetika SKODA Plzen, etc. 

Kamil Cermak

Kamil Cermak came to CEZ from the Czech Airlines, where he worked as sales and marketing executive manager, at the beginning of 2005. Before that he worked in telecommunications; from 2001 he worked in Cesky Telecom as executive manager for corporate clientele.

Kamil Cermak graduated from VSE in Prague. In 2000 he joined the postgraduate studies Master of Business Communication at Erasmus University in Rotterdam. During his professional career he has worked in the field of media, public administration and telecommunications. He started as a reporter and moderator at Ceska televize (Czech Television) then he worked as a spokesman and adviser to the minister of trade and industry of the Czech Republic, Vladimir Dlouhy. In 1996 he took up the post of external relations manager at SPT Telecom (Cesky Telecom). Three year later he became sales and marketing manager and from 2000 he worked as executive manager for corporate clientele of Cesky Telecom.
