CEZ Group receives ESG Transparency Award, scoring 97% in an international evaluation

CEZ Group received an international ESG Transparency Award from EUPD Research for the scope and openness of its reporting and communication of sustainability-related data. With a score of 96.86%, it emerged at the top of the rankings not only in the industry category, but also in the category of companies with over 5,000 employees. Hundreds of companies from 27 countries entered the competition.

CEZ Group received an ESG Transparency Award 2025 from EUPD Research, an international market research organisation that provides certification and consulting services in the field of sustainability. The award is given for the scope, transparency and openness of reporting non-financial indicators.

CEZ Group achieved an overall score of 96.86% in all five key areas assessed (environmental, social, governance, regulatory environment and transparency). It therefore reached the level of Excellence, which is for companies with a rating of more than 75%. Moreover, the result means that it has become a Leading Company, i.e. the best company in its category (by region, industry sector and number of employees).

“If we want ESG and sustainability to be taken seriously, we need to be able to talk about them comprehensibly, openly and truthfully. Reporting non-financial indicators is not easy, but we are rising to the challenge. I’m glad that the efforts of the dozens of people at CEZ Group who help compile the Sustainability Report each year have been recognised as a job well done. I’d like to thank them all,” said Michaela Chaloupková, member of the Board of Directors and Chief Sustainability Officer.

CEZ Group’s Sustainability Report was evaluated by EUPD Research based on a comprehensive methodology that looks at, among other things, whether the reporting complies with voluntary standards, the structure and comprehensibility of the report for a wide range of stakeholders, the credibility, traceability and breadth of the information provided, the anchoring of sustainability principles in the company’s business and how the company communicates ESG in general.

Transparent ESG reporting is essential not only for regulators, but also for investors, banks and the public. The European Union’s recent CSRD Directive aims to unify the reporting of non-financial indicators and make them transparent, so that reports are comparable.

EUPD Research is a leading European organisation with more than 25 years of experience in sustainability, the energy transition and ESG consulting. Its aim is to help companies remain competitive and develop opportunities within a sustainable business framework. It has been active on national and international markets since 2000 and is a leading institution in the field of social and environmental sustainability. EUPD Research stresses that ESG reporting is not just about meeting statutory duties, but is a strategic tool for building a company’s reputation and competitiveness
