Environmental (EMS) and Energy (EnMS) Management Systems
The strategic management of the CEZ Group in the areas of environmental protection and energy management is based on the principle of a responsible approach to natural resources as a value that must be protected and developed in the long term. The Group therefore adheres to the principles of pollution prevention, efficient and responsible use of resources, and a considerate approach toward its surroundings, society, and the environment.
This approach is implemented through certified management systems, in particular the Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO 14001 (EMS), the Energy Management System in accordance with ISO 50001 (EnMS), and the system for monitoring biomass sustainability criteria.
These systems form an integrated framework for managing environmental aspects and energy performance, including the systematic monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the impacts of the Group’s activities on the environment. At the same time, they support compliance with relevant legislation and contribute to achieving ESG objectives, particularly in the areas of greenhouse gas emission reduction and the improvement of energy efficiency.
Within the Environmental Management System (EMS), the CEZ Group systematically identifies and evaluates the environmental aspects of its activities, including associated risks and impacts. EMS promotes a preventive approach to environmental protection, minimization of negative impacts, and a balanced consideration of environmental, social, and economic aspects.
The Energy Management System (EnMS) is focused on improving energy efficiency, optimizing consumption, and reducing the energy intensity of production processes and buildings in line with EU targets for reducing primary energy consumption.
The system for monitoring biomass sustainability criteria ensures compliance with sustainability requirements and the evaluation of emission savings, including monitoring compliance with these requirements among biomass suppliers and fostering the development of long-term relationships based on sustainability principles.
The systems include both internal and external audits, through which compliance with the requirements of international standards, internal documentation, and relevant legal regulations in the areas of environmental protection and energy management is continuously verified. Internal EMS and EnMS audits are carried out by employees, while external audits are conducted by certification bodies.
