CEZ commissioned the first heating plants in Prunéřov and Tušimice; others are beginning to be built in the Ústí nad Labem Region
Coal-fired power generation is on the decline, and its phase-out also means changes in heat supplies for households and businesses in the Ústí nad Labem Region. CEZ is working intensively to preserve the cornerstone of Czech district heating, which is the local central heat supply system. In the first phase, the Prunéřov and Tušimice power plants, which supply heat to Chomutov, Kadaň, Klášterec nad Ohří, and Jirkov, are undergoing a major transformation. The first gas boiler rooms have already been built this year, and other heating sources are in preparation. CEZ Teplárenská has also signed a fifteen-year contract for heat supply with Kadaň and selected a contractor for the construction of the Prunéřov-Kadaň hot water pipeline. CEZ ESCO, a supplier of modern energy solutions, has also built new gas boiler rooms in cooperation with Ústí nad Labem to supply the Střekov district. Other modernized heating plants will be located in Trmice and Ledvice. CEZ's total planned investment in heating in the region exceeds CZK 20 billion. CEZ is also investing in modern new power plants, electricity and heat distribution, electromobility, and lithium and small modular reactor projects in the region.
