CEZ will work with the government and the British company Rolls-Royce SMR to identify additional sites for the construction of small modular reactors
CEZ, in cooperation with the Czech government and the British company Rolls-Royce SMR, will develop additional sites for the construction of small modular reactors in the Czech Republic. Representatives of both companies and Minister of Industry Karel Havlíček signed a memorandum in the United Kingdom that will serve as the basis for the development of these additional sites. Sites in the Moravian-Silesian and Ústí regions are being evaluated in particular, such as those in Dětmarovice and Tušimice. Small modular reactors are one of the pillars of the government’s long-term strategy and the Czech Republic’s modern energy sector. The first small modular reactor in the Czech Republic is expected to be built in the second half of the 2030s in Temelín.
