The Czech Technical University’s Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering (FNSPE) is already seeing the first savings achieved through an EPC project delivered by ENESA, a company within the ČEZ ESCO holding. Thanks to the modernisation of two buildings in Prague and one in Děčín, one of Europe’s oldest technical universities will save nearly CZK 4 million annually. Energy consumption across the buildings will be reduced by a total of 1,200 MWh per year, representing a reduction of more than one quarter. Combined with previous EPC projects, CTU is now saving more than CZK 25 million on energy costs every year.

The energy modernisation covered the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering’s branch campus in Děčín, as well as buildings in Břehová Street and Trojanova Street in central Prague, which house faculty classrooms and offices for academic and administrative staff. As part of the EPC project, the heating systems were modernised, windows, lighting and heating control valves were replaced, and an energy management system was introduced to monitor additional savings opportunities in the years ahead. Energy consumption in the renovated buildings will decrease by 1,200 MWh per year, equivalent to more than 26% of their total energy use. Over a ten-year period, the faculty is expected to save a total of CZK 36.7 million.
