The consortium of Czech companies ZAT and I&C Energo has won the tender to replace key components of the control system for all four units. The ten-year project is part of an extensive modernization effort to ensure the efficient and safe long-term operation of the first Czech nuclear power plant. The extensive modernization includes a complete overhaul of the primary and secondary loop control systems on all four generating units. One of the key conditions is that the work must not negatively impact the safety and stable operation of the units in any way. In 2025, the plant generated 14.68 TWh of emission-free electricity, thereby significantly contributing to the record production of Czech nuclear units. This year, Dukovany and Temelín expect slightly lower production due to changes in fuel cycles and the resulting higher number of outages for fuel replacement. However, the goal by the end of the decade is an average safe and emission-free production of 32 TWh per year.
