More than 150 municipalities in the Czech Republic already have energy-efficient lighting from ČEZ ESCO. Under the "Public Lighting for a Crown" program, municipalities do not have to invest any funds in lighting fixtures, as the costs of modernizing the lighting are covered by ČEZ ESCO. The municipality then gradually repays the investment over a period of 10 years. ČEZ ESCO plans to replace lighting in dozens more cities and municipalities by the end of this year. By replacing old discharge lamps with LED lighting, town halls save millions of crowns in their budgets each year. Typically, street lighting consumption falls by an average of 80 percent per year.
