Half of the capital's population has been heated for 30 years by heat generated at the confluence of the Elbe and Vltava rivers. The Mělník–Prague feeder began operating in 1995. The entire Mělník area will undergo a fundamental transformation by 2030. Old facilities are gradually being replaced by new, modern, low-emission sources that are environmentally friendly. The CEZ Group is thus continuing to decarbonize the Czech heating industry while maintaining reliable heat supplies for years to come. In addition to the right bank of Prague, the Mělník power plant also supplies heat to the towns of Mělník and Neratovice, serving a total of 250,000 customers.
