Temelín is gradually switching to a new control system from Westinghouse
An important stage has been completed in the modernization of control systems at the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant. Operators in the control room of the first unit now work exclusively in the user environment of the new control system, which also automatically controls approximately one-third of the equipment. A similar modification is planned for the second unit next year. Technicians plan to complete the full upgrade in 2028 for the first unit and a year later for the second. The system is being supplied by the American company Westinghouse, which also supplied the original control system in the 1990s. At the time, it was one of the first examples of cooperation with Westinghouse after the 1989 revolution, when the technologically almost completed power plant was equipped with the most modern control and safety systems available at the time.
