The Czech Republic and the United Kingdom strengthen cooperation in the development of nuclear energy
The Czech Republic and the United Kingdom will deepen their mutual cooperation in the development of nuclear energy, which is a pillar of secure, emission-free energy supplies for both countries. Representatives of the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom, in the presence of Prime Ministers Petr Fiala and Keir Starmer, today signed a memorandum confirming the joint will of both countries to strengthen their partnership in nuclear energy. This is a key element in ensuring energy security, achieving climate goals, and reducing dependence on Russian raw materials. The memorandum follows on from the Joint Statement on Cooperation in Nuclear Energy of November 2023. Last year, the Czech Republic chose the British Rolls-Royce SM for the construction of small modular reactors (SMRs).
