The new cycle route runs through land owned by the CEZ Group and is freely accessible not only to cyclists but also to hikers.
Prunéřov – On Wednesday, September 17, the path leading from the village of Prunéřov to the Verne Industrial Zone across the first dam of the reclaimed area opposite the Prunéřov 2 Power Plant was opened to the public, not only symbolically but also in fact. The site, known among energy professionals as "Áčka," served as a fly ash storage facility in the second half of the last century and, thanks to this, also partially as experimental land for the Research Institute of Plant Production in Prague 6 – Ruzyně. It has long since been returned to nature. Today, only the paved roads separating the individual dams, which shaped the future face of the landscape, remind us of former human activity. One of these has now been turned into a cycle path. It was opened to the public by Jiří Hampl, director of the Tušimice and Prunéřov power plants, on behalf of the CEZ Group, and Štefan Drozd, mayor of Klášterec nad Ohří, on behalf of the town.
