Štěchovice has struck gold with artificial intelligence. AI detects impending malfunctions at the pumped-storage power plant in advance

Artificial intelligence is making significant inroads into the energy sector. One of the latest examples is the use of AI for comprehensive diagnostics of the Štěchovice II pumped-storage power plant’s turbine operation and for optimizing maintenance planning for the entire unit. In collaboration with Brno University of Technology and using neural networks, energy engineers are detecting impending failures. The Štěchovice pumped-storage plant is treating itself to advanced AI diagnostics as a gift to mark 30 years since it resumed operations following modernization in the 1990s.
