The Dlouhé stráně power plant is in good shape; in March, it generated a record amount of energy
CEZ's investment in the Dlouhé stráně pumped-storage power plant is paying off. The plant, which will celebrate its 30th anniversary this year, is in top condition—in March, it generated the highest amount of electricity in its entire history.
Clean electricity for thousands more households, an extended service life by several decades, more reliable, safer, and more environmentally friendly operation, and significant savings in precious water—these are the main results of the modernization to date of roughly forty units at more than twenty hydroelectric power plants of the CEZ Group (e.g., Lipno, Dlouhé stráně, Slapy, Kamýk, Mohelno, Dalešice, and selected small hydroelectric power plants). As a result, these hydroelectric plants will increase their average efficiency by approximately 4–10%. The total capacity of the modernized units exceeds 1,400 MW, which is roughly three-quarters of the capacity of the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant. Thanks to investments to date totaling approximately 5 billion crowns, the power plants will be prepared for emission-free production of environmentally clean electricity for decades to come, ensuring a secure supply for future generations and generating the same volume of electricity using a smaller amount of increasingly scarce water. Additional hydroelectric power plants are scheduled for modernization in the coming years.
